Community Concert 2022

Presenting Our Master Class & Company Dancers with choreography by; Alison Cook-Beatty, Hannah Garner, Caterina Rago, Jessica DiMauro-Marks and Annie Doss.

The Steffi Nossen Community Concert will highlight Woody Guthrie’s music with Steffi Nossen School of Dance Master Class and Company students dancing to songs performed by Guthrie himself, covers of his iconic songs, and songs of previously unpublished lyrics from the Woody Guthrie Archive by Billy Bragg and Wilco.

With special guest Anna Canoni sharing Woody’s story, photos and lyrics woven throughout the performance, the event is a true love story of the magical attraction of folk music and modern dance. Guthrie was married to Marjorie Mazia, a dancer in the Martha Graham Dance Company for 15 years. Steffi Nossen Dance Foundation’s personal connection to the Woody & Marjorie Guthrie family extends further: three generations of the Guthrie family have danced at Steffi Nossen School of Dance. Nora Guthrie, Woody’s daughter choreographed a piece for the school’s pre-professional company in the 70’s and Nora’s daughter, Anna Canoni is one of the school’s alumni and current board member. Canoni’s two daughters are currently members of the Master Class program.
