Core Curriculum Classes Our core dance curriculum provides a clear pathway and goals students of all ages. Locations: White Plains (Steffi Nossen Central Studios at the Music Conservatory of Westchester) & Chappaqua (conveniently located in downtown Chappaqua between the library and Robert E. Bell Middle School) All core curriculum classes begin in September and culminate in a year-end costumed performance in May. Students are welcome to join a class at any point through January and tuition will be prorated. There is a $75 performance fee toward production expenses and costumes. MODERN DANCE I, II, & III: Our sequential curriculum teaches the foundations of modern dance technique, incorporating the movement theories of the great modern dance pioneers such as Graham, Limon, Horton, Ailey and Cunningham. This unique and exciting program is geared toward the appropriate physical, educational, and social/emotional development of the students, ages 3 years to grade 3. The Modern II & III classes feature live music. MODERN/JAZZ: Designed for 4th and 5th grade students, this class continues to develop modern vocabulary and technique while exploring the stylistic movement and musical rhythms of jazz. A combination of live accompaniment and popular recorded music is used. JAZZ: These dynamic and exciting classes for 6th grade and up use recorded music in a variety of styles to enhance the wide range of movement that characterizes jazz dance.
